Google Analytics Training Course

Introduction to Google Analytics

First we will look at what Google Analytics is and what it can do for your business. Whether it’s a website or app or both that you want to track you will learn how this can be tracked in GA4. And that includes how Analytics works and how it stores and uses your data. We will also cover how Google uses cookies and the information they track and the difference between 1st party and 3rd party cookies.

Setting up an account

One of the first things you’ll need is access to a Google Analytics account. You can request access for one or you can create a new account for your business and website or app. In this Google Analytics training course, you’ll learn how to set up an account the right way. And you’ll learn how to set the right features and what you should accept as part of the set-up process.

Setting up a property

After setting up an account, you’ll set up your first property. A property is where all your reports and configurations are contained, and you can set up additional properties and easily move from one another. You’ll learn how a property is to be set up the correct way and how you can do that for your account. And we’ll see how the tracking code should be added to your website to start tracking.

Adding tracking code

Before anything else can happen, tracking code needs to be added to the website. And we will cover what the tracking code looks like and why it should be added to your website. We will go into more detail into how and where the tracking code should be added to your website. Placing it in the correct place is important and across the website so you can have accurate data.

Updating your property

Next, we will update the GA4 property so we can collect the right data that we need. The property settings will be updated to produce reports that are in line with the objectives that you set. So, you’ll learn how to update features like Google Signals, audiences, Google Ads linking, attributions and more. You’ll learn the different controls and how you can update them to your business context.

Creating events & conversions

When you create a new Google Analytics account and property, the system will automatically create some events for you. This includes events like page view, scrolls and clicks and many others. However, you will need to create additional events if you want to track other specific actions on your website like downloads, registrations, and contacts. And you can create conversion out of these. This is what you will learn

Standard reporting

An important part of the Google Analytics training covers reporting. First, we will look at the standard reports to discover what they are telling us about our traffic. These tell us what traffic sources we are getting like Organic, Social, Paid and others and what the metrics look like. You’ll learn how to analyze these reports, look at the most relevant for you, and gain amazing insights from your website traffic.

Understanding Explorations

Finally, we will look Explorations. This advanced section allows you to look at your reports more in-depth so you can learn more about your visitors, their actions and what they are looking for. You’ll be able to create paths, forms and more to check your traffic sources and the metrics that you’re keeping track of. And then you can save these so you can access them later and learn from your data.

Custom reporting

Sometimes we need more information than we are getting from our standard reports. We need to customize our reports to gain even greater insights into our traffic and conversions. So, you’ll learn how to customize your dashboard reports including dimensions, sources, metrics, charts and so on. And you’ll be able to share these and other reports with stakeholders in your business.
