What’s The PPC Consultant Hourly Rate?

The Pay Per Click (PPC) consultant hourly rate is a good indicator of what you’re likely to pay for the services of a PPC consultant.

Whether that’s to set up Google Ads campaigns or to manage them, or if you need help with auditing or training, it will be  important to know the PPC consultant hourly rate for such services.

PPC consultants work as freelancers or part of an agency. So, it’s important to know the rates for each because they can differ significantly.

So, read the following to find out what PPC consultant hourly rate you’re likely to pay.

What’s the PPC freelancer hourly rate?

The PPC freelancer hourly rate depends on several factors like experience, skills, geographic location and so on. These rates start from $30 to $300 per hour and this wide variation is due to the factors that I’ve listed above.

For example, you’ll find that on freelance websites like Fiverr, you’ll see many cheaper freelancers, and many will be based abroad. The rates here start from about $30 per hour and the average is about $80 per hour.

However, the problem with freelance websites is that the nature of the work is usually one-off work. And you don’t get a full PPC package that includes research, strategy, campaign set up and management and so on. And many freelancers will have very little experience in your industry. So, they may be cheap, but the results are often just average and it’s hard to find the right freelancer with the experience you need.

Another option is to search for a PPC freelancer on Google or other search engine. And many of the freelancers you find will have their own websites and will be based in your country. They will also be the most experienced and you’ll easily see their reviews and case studies to see what experience they have.

The average hourly rate will vary but will usually be around $150 per hour on average.

The services provided by PPC freelance consultants are included below and similar to what you get from agencies:

– audit your campaigns to find opportunities to improve them

– research keywords and competitors to set up effective campaigns

– create a new Google Ads account and provide you a $500 coupon

– set up new campaigns like Search, Shopping, Display and others

– training to help you learn how to set up and manage effective campaigns

– and much more.

The pros and cons of working with a PPC freelancer include:

Pros:

– more affordable than a PPC agency

– quick turnaround during campaign management

– work with the same person and no switching of consultants unlike an agency

– work closely together to make the ads successful

– quicker to make changes in line with seasons and insights, unlike with a PPC agency

– you are working with a proven expert with many years’ experience

Cons:

– usually don’t offer other services like Search Engine Optimization (SEO). But it’s good that they specialize

– may sometimes take on more work than they can handle so it’s good to check their capacity

What’s the PPC agency hourly rate?

With agencies, the average PPC consultant hourly rate is $150 per hour. And this can be much higher or lower depending on the experience of the agency. And a specialist PPC agency will usually charge higher.

The pros and cons of working with a PPC agency are:

Pros:

– work with a team that’s focused on promoting your business

– they offer a wider range of digital marketing services that you may also be interested in

– will almost always have an in-house Web developer to work on your website and not outsource any website work

Cons:

– agencies charge a lot more than freelancers despite offering the same services

– many PPC consultants in agencies are juniors and you’re likely to get one working on your campaigns, and not an expert

– usually ties you into a contract of at least 12 months

– communication primarily through an account manager and not directly with a PPC expert working on your campaigns
